The Del Bello Family Legacy

Del Bello Lakes is named after the Del Bello family, one of the early settlers of the Manvel, Texas area in the early 1900s.

Celeste Del Bello immigrated to the United States in 1884 from Italy. He arrived at Ellis Island and made his way to Texas. Celeste and his first wife Margherita had eight children. Margherita passed away and Celeste remarried, to Domenica, and they had six children. In 1914 Celeste purchased 40 acres of land in Manvel and would eventually purchase more. The family initially lived in a three room home, but in 1918, Celeste built his family a four room house on his property. The family grew and flourished over the years and were an important piece of Manvel's history, having been involved in the city's fire department and in city management throughout the years. Today, many members of the Del Bello family still live and raise their families in Manvel. Celeste's 14 children resulted in 33 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great grandchildren.
